Network Infrastructure deployment for a Food Production customer
When one of our existing Food Production customers recently purchased a well known brand from another company from the same industry, they faced a significant challenge of integrating the brands entire production operation into their site.
This required both a relocation and a complete overhaul of the network infrastructure at the new site to ensure reliable connectivity, compliance with industry standards and long-term scalability.
Building the backbone of production:
As part of the changeover, we were instructed to carry out a site survey, both at the existing facility and the new premises, we then planned a design, supply and installation of a robust and future-proofed network infrastructure solution.
The new infrastructure had to support the seamless operation of production critical systems, LAN and WLAN across the newly integrated facility.
One of the key requirements was the installation of 300mm overhead galvanized steel basket containment throughout the site, positioned above 2 metres, to comply with health and safety regulations.
Additionally, stainless steel containment was installed below each new production line, providing physical support for both Cat6a shielded cabling and a 24-core 0M4 multimode fibre optic backbone.
IP65 wiring cabinets and fibre backbone:
To facilitate high performance and resilient network distribution across the factory floor, we installed two stainless steel IP65 rated wiring cabinets directly within the production floor, these cabinets are designed for this kind of environment.
A 24-core 0M4 multimode fibre optic backbone was implemented to connect both wiring cabinets and integrate them into our customer’s wider network topology.
This high-speed backbone supports minimal latency and maximum reliability for data communication across the whole site.
Structured cabling for LAN and WAN:
The installation also included Cat6a shielded structure cabling outlets, strategically deployed to support both wired LAN connections and a robust WLAN network throughout the production area.
To maintain signal integrity and reduce interference, shielded patch cables were also used.
Tested, labelled and documented to industry standards:
Upon completion, all cabling and hardware were thoroughly tested and labelled in line with current industry standards.
A comprehensive documentation package was provided, ensuring full traceability and simplifying future maintenance or expansion.
