Cabinet Relocation

Customer Challenge:

Our customer, a leading Manufacturing company, approached Data Installation & Supplies to request that we relocate their server room cabinets.

In short, the server cabinets had always resided within a room adjacent to the factory floor, however, due to a planned expansion, the production area now requires the room, meaning that there was a request for the cabinets to be relocated.

Our Solution:

Due to the nature of the business, the cabinet relocation needed to be carried out at a time outside of production hours, to ensure minimal disruption to business operations within the production area.

As such, three of our engineers conducted the work over the weekend.

The initial task was for the team to document the patching, so that they could identify where all the connections go, before removing them and proceeding with the cabinet relocation.

The cabinets were carefully removed from their existing room and secured in their new location, before all connections were re-installed, in an organised manner, as per the document.

Arguably, the most important aspect of the job was the final phase of the relocation, which was the testing element.

Our engineers tested all connections to make sure that they were satisfied that they were working correctly, following which, the on-site project was complete.

Future

The work undertaken by our engineers over the weekend is part of a longer-term strategy for the customer.

We will be, over the coming months relocating all this customer’s servers into Node4’s Data Centre.

This will benefit the customer as it will provide a resilient internet connection, whilst also bringing with it higher levels of availability and security, furthermore providing the ability to adapt and scale at increased pace as the opportunity arises.
