Another day, another cyber-attack

Another day, another cyber-attack, this time the victim is Revolut.

Revolut, the digital banking platform announced this week that they have been the target of a small-scale breach, which has unfortunately enabled the hackers to gain unauthorised access to some of their customers data.

This is obviously extremely problematic for Revolut, in both terms of business operations, but also the impact that this can have on their reputation, especially when you consider how many alternative companies are operating within digital banking, so in terms of Revolut, all eyes will be on their reaction over the next few weeks…

So, why are we telling you this when you can read the headlines for yourself?

Well, because of the recent events at Revolut (alongside many other organisations over the last 12 months), we feel it’s important that companies are aware of their own responsibilities to safeguarding their networks, not to mention the importance of being proactive when it comes to cyber-security.

The best way to consider how seriously you are taking your own cyber-security is to ask yourself, when was the last time you checked your cyber-security?

If you can’t answer this, or if you are unsure then you’re not alone, cyber-security is often an area overlooked by organisations, but one that can have significant business implications if you are unfortunate enough to be the victim of an attack.

As a company who offer Security Professional Services, Data Installation & Supplies can’t emphasise enough the importance towards protecting your organisation.

Unfortunately, hackers are smart in how they look to infiltrate networks and as a result of hackers increasingly becoming more astute, the traditional attitude from a multitude of organisations of ‘it won’t happen to us’ or ‘we’re only a small business,’ really isn’t a suitable approach to cyber security anymore.

Regardless of size, if hackers identify an opportunity, they will carry out an attempt to hack your network, therefore you need to be proactive in your safeguarding…

As an organisation you should be conducting regular checks, whether this be through Penetration Testing, Vulnerability Scanning, or another security professional service.

These solutions will provide in depth testing of your internet presence and if any issues are identified they can be quickly remediated, with the purpose to best secure your networks.

Is cyber-security a one-off requirement?

It’s also important to understand that cyber security shouldn’t be a one-off solution, you should be conducting regular checks to best protect your network.

At times cyber-security can seem like a minefield, which is where we come in, let Data Installation & Supplies support your cyber security efforts with our myriad of Managed Solutions where we can offer full support, with minimal requirements from your team, but which are tailored to your individual requirements.
