How Secure is SD-WAN?
SD-WAN, is the word of the moment in network solutions, but the question of the day is, how secure is SD-WAN?
At Data Installation & Supplies we take network connectivity and security extremely seriously which is why the SD-WAN solution that we would encourage our customer to adopt is a Secure SD-WAN solution, which from the name reinforces the security behind the technology.
You should however be aware that not all SD-WAN offerings have security at the forefront and focus, which can leave your business vulnerable to attack. Particularly important when you consider SD-WAN is deployed via direct internet access to multiple sites or branches- leaving the likelihood of an external attack increasing in likeliness, which can ultimately compromise your network.
As your managed service provider, it is the responsibility of Data Installation & Supplies to ensure that you have all the information you need, and we will only ever provide you with a secure solution.
Features of Secure SD-WAN
With SD-WAN, as mentioned above the secure solution includes some critical security features, including:
- Next Generation Firewalls
- Intrusion Prevention
- Anti-Malware
- Centralised Management
- Own network functionality (bring all unmanaged network locations under the same security as your standard locations- perfect for remote working!)
It is important to consider the implications that could come from not having the security aspect of SD-WAN at the forefront of deployment, including the effect a malicious attack will have on your company’s reputation.
We know, of course that everyone wants the best solutions for their business, but what price will you pay if you don’t do things correctly, from the beginning…
By not adopting a secure SD-WAN solution, if your networks are attacked and your data is infiltrated it will inevitably leave your reputation in tatters, not to mention they will leave your networks compromised.
It’s important to know that there are several differences between SD-WAN and Secure SD-WAN, essentially security aspects with the features of secure SD-WAN noted above providing you with the protection from any internal or external threats that may be encountered, furthermore they can adapt to your businesses needs to understand your bandwidth, latency and availability requirements.
